That’s why your lips are really dry
During the cold season, not only the skin in general, but especially the lips are often brittle and dry. But why is that? The dry air that prevails in winter dries out the mucous membranes and also affects the lips, according to dermatologist Dr. Orit Markowitz.
THAT’S WHY YOUR LIPS ARE ALWAYS DRY
When the lips start to get dry, a vicious cycle usually starts. Many intuitively tongue- lick their lips when they become dry, making the situation worse. Saliva is acidic and can cause even more irritation on sensitive lips. So the first step to combating dry lips is to stop wetting them with your tongue.
According to dermatologist Robyn Gmyrek, there are other causes of chapped lips as well. This can include using the wrong lip balm, for example. But vitamin B and C as well as zinc and folic acid deficiencies can also cause dry lips. A lot can be done with the right diet.
YOU CAN DO THIS AGAINST DRY LIPS
The first thing you should definitely do is stop wetting your lips. In the second step, you should use a really rich cream such as vaseline or milking fat. These creams have a thick texture and are highly moisturizing to provide lasting relief from chapped and dry lips.
